WORCESTER, Mass. – Unations II suffered a tough 6–1 defeat against Vermont Clover on Saturday evening in a UPSL New England Division 1 matchup at Morse Field in Worcester, Massachusetts.
Despite the final scoreline, the match remained competitive throughout much of the opening half as Unations II created several promising opportunities and looked capable of taking an early lead. Vermont Clover, however, capitalized on their chances late in the first half, breaking the deadlock to take a 1–0 advantage into the halftime break.
As heavy rain continued to pour throughout the evening, Vermont Clover elevated their intensity in the second half and began finishing chances with clinical precision. The visitors added goal after goal during a dominant stretch, eventually building a commanding 5–0 lead.
Unations II continued to battle despite the difficult conditions and were rewarded with a consolation goal from Evans Kussi, who found the back of the net late in the match.
Vermont Clover would add one more goal before the final whistle as the match concluded in a 6–1 result on a rain-soaked night in Worcester.
Unations II will now look to regroup and bounce back in their next UPSL New England Division 1 fixture against Maine Mystics as they travel to Maine next Sunday.
