Unations Secure 2–1 Road Victory Over GZS Bridgeport

Murat stays red-hot while Rivera nets first of the season to seal three points in Bridgeport

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – Unations earned a hard-fought 2–1 victory over GZS Bridgeport on Saturday evening in UPSL New England Premier action at Kennedy Stadium in Bridgeport, Connecticut, delivering a composed performance on the road to secure all three points.

Unations started the match brightly and looked dangerous from the outset, pressing high and creating opportunities in the attacking third. Their early intent paid off in the 32nd minute when Guervens Murat continued his outstanding start to the season, breaking through on goal and finishing clinically to give Unations a 1–0 lead. This marked Murat’s fifth goal in four matches, as he has now found the net in every game so far this season and remains the top scorer in the UPSL New England Conference.

Unations carried their advantage into halftime, maintaining a solid defensive shape while limiting Bridgeport’s chances.

The hosts responded shortly after the restart, finding an equalizer in the 52nd minute to level the match at 1–1 and set up a competitive second half.

Unations, however, showed resilience and regained control midway through the half. In the 66th minute, a quick counterattack proved decisive, with Alex Egan providing a well-timed assist to Ricardo Rivera, who calmly finished to restore the lead at 2–1. The goal marked Rivera’s first of the season and ultimately stood as the match-winner.

As the game entered its final stages, Unations remained organized and disciplined. Brayan Aguilar was introduced late in midfield to help see out the result, contributing to a strong defensive effort that preserved the lead through the closing minutes.

The match also featured important milestones for the squad, as Rubelsi Moran and 17-year-old Samuel Shea both made their debuts for the club.

With the win, Unations continue to build momentum early in the campaign and will now turn their focus to their next fixture against Southwest FC on Saturday, May 2nd at 4:00 PM at Lauralton Hall in Milford, Connecticut.
